What is a MHFAider?
An individual who has taken the time to broaden their understanding of mental ill health and how to spot early warning signs and symptoms that someone may need support. Your role isn’t to diagnose or ‘fix’ someone else's problems, instead to help break down mental health stigma in your workplace or community and be the first supportive conversation that could help signpost someone to further support if needed.
Who should attend the course?
- Anyone from any background or job role, the more varied the pool of MHFAiders in your workplace can lead to greater engagement in the program
- A supportive, non judgmental person
- An interest in mental health but no prior knowledge is required
- Personal experience is neither a necessity or deterrent
